Submissions now being accepted
The European Journal of Protistology, The Journal of Eukaryotic Microbiology, and Protist are collaborating on a special issue to showcase recent conceptual, methodological, and technological advances in protistology from participants of the ISOP Protistology Open meeting in Prague. The Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive snapshot of current progress in protist research, foster cross-disciplinary dialogue, and reflect the vibrant scientific exchange stimulated by the Protistology Open community.
Submissions of original research articles, reviews, and perspectives that advance our understanding of protist biology, from molecular and cellular mechanisms to evolutionary history and ecological interactions, are now being accepted at all three journals through 1 September 2027. Contributions may focus on both free-living and parasitic protists, symbiotic systems, and organellar biology, integrating approaches from genomics, phylogenomics, cell biology, morphology, and systems biology.
This collaboration allows authors to leverage any institutional agreements for Open Access publishing they may have with the journals. Open Access publishing is encouraged when feasible to allow readers to enjoy all the papers submitted to this special issue without regard to journal subscription.
