The 2017 meeting of ISOP with run in conjunction with the 15th International Congress of Protistology (ICOP) in Prague, Czech Republic, July 30-August 4 2017.
ISOP will sponsor 2 symposia at this meeting, each of 3 or 4 speakers, with ~$2000 of support available per speaker.
This is an open call for proposals for symposia from the ISOP membership.
Proposals will consist of a single page as follows:
- 1 or 2 proposers listed. Proposers must be current ISOP members.
- Summary of theme for symposium (~300 words) including explanation of importance and relevance/timeliness of the topic. See note below about references.
- Short-list of 3-6 potential speakers, with affiliations. Additionally, list a couple of recent references or short paragraph that rationalizes them as selected speakers. Indicate if they have agreed in-principle. Proposers may be potential speakers. Speakers do NOT need to be ISOP members.
Note: Cited references from 3 and 4 can be listed on an additional page.
Send proposals to aespinosa[a]rwu.edu with the subject line “ISOP/ICOP symposium proposal” by October 14, 2016.
The ISOP program committee will evaluate the submitted proposals. The main criteria will be (1) excellence and timeliness, (2) distinctiveness from other symposia (see below), (3) Intention, if any, to submit a review, or series of reviews, to The Journal of Eukaryotic Microbiology based on the symposium. Proposals that give an opportunity for an advanced trainee to present will be viewed favorably, but provided this does not compromise main criteria (1).
Successful proposals will be named in October 28, 2016.
Successful proposers would be required to arrange speakers, chair the symposium, and apportion financial support (subject to oversight by the program committee).
If you have additional questions please contact aespinosa[a]rwu.edu, or members of the ISOP program committee.
