One postdoctoral position is available at the Department of Clinical Pathology of the School of Medicine, State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Campinas – SP, Brazil.

The fellowship is funded by São Paulo Research Foundation, FAPESP, and the position is linked to the Thematic Project “Calcium signaling in trypanosomes” coordinated by Prof. Roberto Docampo.

The project aims at the characterization of the inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptor located in acidocalcisomes of trypanosomes and its link to the mitochondrial calcium uniporter in regulating calcium signaling.

Applications are invited from highly motivated individuals. Applicants must have a proven track record in research and laboratory work in the form of publications in English language journals. The ideal candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in the biological area and background in trypanosome research. Prior experience in biochemistry and molecular parasitology with emphasis on Trypanosoma cruzi or Trypanosoma brucei is essential. Knowledge in the use of bioinformatics tools for genome analysis and in gene cloning and development of transgenic trypanosome cell lines is required.

Value of the fellowship is stipulated in accordance with FAPESP.
