by Gaytha A. Langlois, ISOP Membership Secretary

Based on feedback from ISOP members and officers, over the last two years, we have updated the ISOP Bylaws to describe new membership categories by having the Executive Committee recommend changes and the Membership approve the changes at the ISOP Business Meeting in Seoul, Korea last summer. For details, see the link on our ISOP website: https://protistologists.org/bylaws-of-the-international-society-of-protistologists/

However, a special opportunity exists for all membership categories in 2026. For this year, all membership categories will have access to the Journal of Eukaryotic Microbiology. This arrangement is a consequence of two realities. First, our current Contract with Wiley, Inc. assures journal access for all members, and secondly, the existence of technical complications at Wiley prevents collection of dues without a journal subscription.

If you are feeling particularly generous and wish to help support student travel and other Society activities to the greatest extent, you can, of course, choose the Full Privileges Membership category in 2026 by selecting a New Membership. Otherwise, the Regular Membership category provides journal access for 2026.

We apologize for any inconvenience in transferring over to our new Membership arrangements, but we will continue to work with all parties to make this transition as smooth as possible. If you experience any difficulties with your membership renewal, or wish to change your membership category, please use the new membership form.

We continue to work with Wiley regarding credit card payments that are difficult to complete, and we are aware that regional currency amounts will still appear on the subscription page. Please note that you are free to pay in USD regardless of your country of residence. Please contact the ISOP Membership Secretary if you encounter any difficulties with membership payments or communication. Please note that post-docs are now included in the Regular Member category and variations based on Associate Societies are no longer distinctly listed.

Thanks for your support as we integrate these new arrangements.
